Dalmahoy appoints two new directors
A leading hotel on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, has appointed two expert hospitality professionals to its senior management team.
Described by the hotel management as a ‘real coup’, the resort has recruited Craig Waddell as director of golf & leisure. Craig, an AA PGA Golf Professional, has moved from Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, and previously Trump International Golf Club, Dubai to take up residence at Dalmahoy’s renowned golf and leisure resort. He replaces Sam Oliver who has recently joined The Wisley Golf Club in Surrey.
And homegrown talent Colin Swanston has been promoted to director of sales & marketing, two decades after joining Dalmahoy as a gym instructor. Colin is a shining example of organic success – he first joined Dalmahoy in 1999 and has climbed through the ranks to head of sales, and now director. Colin takes on the reigns from Craig Irving who has moved on to set up his own consultancy.
Alistair Kinchin, general manager of Dalmahoy, an independently-branded hotel, said: “We’re delighted to welcome two such high calibre directors to our management team, and we’re excited to see the path both leaders will help take our resort.
“I’ve known and worked with Colin for almost two decades since I joined the hotel in 2002, and he’s been a key part of our team during that time. He is a fantastic example of someone whose work ethic and tenacity has supported his development within the hotel.
“And attracting someone of Craig’s calibre from the golfing world is a real coup for us –his vision will help cement our reputation as one of Scotland’s leading leisure and golf destination resorts.”
AA PGA professional Craig, added: “Dalmahoy prides itself on being a welcoming and inclusive club and offers some of the best golf and leisure facilities in the country, so I jumped at the chance to join the team. Although I’ve travelled throughout my career, I’m Edinburgh born and bred and I grew up playing at Dalmahoy – it’s exciting to return to lead the hotel’s golf and leisure offering.”
Colin added: “I’m proud that my story is a classic ‘hard work pays off’ tale, and I’ve clearly got a supportive employer who recognises achievement. We have a brilliant apprenticeship programme at Dalmahoy, and my message to any new starts coming into the industry is: aim high, and the sky is genuinely your limit.”
