Enjoy a 2 course lunch while hearing from our Keynote Speaker Jon Doig OBE, Chief Executive – Commonwealth Scotland (CGS) ‘Team Scotland’
Jon’s story started as an 8 year old attending his first Commonwealth Games in New Zealand to present day leading ‘Team Scotland’ . His hope is that the games help create a lasting impression on the way sports is viewed as it has done previously for his family. Although not an athlete himself both his brother and sister have taken part in the Olympic and Commonwealth Games with Jon taking a role as sports administrator.
With a career spanning 30 years in the sports industry both international and in Scotland, Jon hopes his involvement will help to inspire more people to take part whether that is as an athlete, coach or administrator as they all play vital parts in the industry.
CEO since 2001, Jon is responsible for CGS management and leadership, overseeing team preparations, partnership and commercial programmes. He has managed Team Scotland at five Commonwealth Games and played a critical part in the development and promotion of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 including the bidding process.
Awarded a OBE in 2014 for services to sport. Jon Previously worked for SportScotland as the Head of High Performance and as a native of New Zealand, previously worked for Hillary Commission, the national sports agency of New Zealand.
At the lunch, Jon will be sharing his story in the world of sport , how his leadership has evolved and what being a part of Scotland means to him.
