The Chamber Supports The Michelle Henderson Cervical Cancer Trust
Every year the Chamber picks a local charity that we support through our Business Excellence Awards Charity raffle as well as other activities throughout the year.
The chosen charity for 2018/2019 is the Michelle Henderson Cervical Cancer Trust which is the legacy of Scottish football legend Willie Henderson’s daughter Michelle. Michelle Henderson was diagnosed with cervical cancer in October 2010 and bravely fought the disease for 2 years before sadly passing away on 1st October 2012.
Michelle set up the trust to give back to those who had helped during her treatment, while bringing awareness to the condition and in turn raising funds towards hospital equipment, medicines and support groups for women suffering from the illness. Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer amongst women aged 35 and under in the UK meaning awareness and support need to be readily available to all affected.
Michelle Henderson Cervical Cancer Trust is run by unpaid volunteers, receives no government funding and exists solely by the kind support of the community.
As mentioned we will start our fundraising for this worthwhile charity with a raffle at our Business Excellence Awards Dinner on the 30th of November from 6:30pm at Macdonald Houstoun House Hotel, Uphall.
Following on from this the Chamber CEO Linda Scott has bravely volunteered to tackle a 100 mile trek through the Sahara desert to raise funds for the charity. Linda would appreciate any support you can offer so if you would like to donate to her worthwhile challenge click here.
