West Lothian College -Careers and how to grab one!
West Lothian College and the Scottish Business Network are hosting a virtual event to help you get a head start in the career you want.
The event, titles ‘Careers and how to grab one!’ has something for everyone and is a great way to connect with employers, students and potential candidates. It offers a real insight into the world of work, how the job market may look coming out of the pandemic and how to grab that opportunity or find the right candidate to fill a job role.
Students at all level of study can get some helpful guidance on their career while employers will have the opportunity to connect with future talent, network with others and find out what educational institutions can offer them. Educational staff will be able to hear from the business network and source relevant opportunities for their students.
Chair of Scottish Business Network Russell Dalgleish said: “Securing your first job after leaving school, college or university is tough, following a pandemic it’s even harder. As business people we need fresh talent joining our organisation to allow us to grow and develop.
“In tandem with West Lothian College, we are delivering an online event to bring together college leavers and businesses to the benefit of Scotland. We are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker is Tweedie Brown CBE, a West Lothian lad who, following a highly successful career, is today one of the leading entrepreneurs in the UK.”
West Lothian College Principal Jackie Galbraith added:
“This feels like the right event at the right time as students make decisions about further study and future careers. Knowing what is out there and what employers need is essential in knowing what next steps to take. In many cases, the world of work has been turned upside down by the pandemic. This event will enable students to understand what that means for them.”
West Lothian Chamber of Commerce Interim CEO Ian Wallace said he “delighted to take part in this valuable event, helping to support students transition into a career.”
